The project
"Ðainting Interpretation".
In
1995-96 Galina Kakovkina and Ljubov Saprykina, with the assistance
of Anna Gor and Sergey Pazushkin, created the project "Painting
Interpretation", consisting of three Galina's personal exhibitions
("Walk in The Garden", "Between Thing and Emptiness",
"Time Name") and of two films.
The
exhibition "Walk in the Garden", consisting of views of
Aleksandrovsky Park with its rough landscapes and branchy paths,
allowed authors to think over the theme of road, both including
child's curiosity (what is there after the turn, beyond the horizon)
and contemplation of the maturity understanding inevitability of
its end.
"Between
Thing and Emptiness" was the central and, perhaps, the main
exhibition of the project. It was a still life exhibition, dedicated
to Thing as creation, both human creation (vessels, draperies) and
Higher creation (grass, flowers, landscapes behind a window).
The
third exhibition, "Time Name", consisting of three parts:
"romantic" landscapes, expressing eternal beauty of the
world; winter landscapes, symbolically reflecting repeating cycle
of death and resurrection, and historical portraits. The exhibition
developed the theme of time, its transience, irrevocability and
mystique.

Saprykina's articles for catalogs of exhibitions are presented on

The project "Light.
The Fragments".
In
1998 year a big exhibition "Light. The Fragments" took
place in Nizhniy Novgorod exhibition complex. Exhibition presented
"Urban landscape" (1996) and "Light. The Fragments"
(1997) series.
In this big project Galina tried to analyze the
nature of Light, its physical and metaphysical components. Paintings
are solved in dark flickering color. The main role is given to a
shade Light appeared as bright patches, underlining the relief of
a landscape or, in the contrary, distorting it.
The majority of paintings are park or urban landscapes,
full of mysterious internal luminescence. On rare still lifes we
can see simple subjects surrounded by light or shadow, like mystical
ambience.
Today, Galina Kakovkina is still fond of courageous
and unexpected light-to-dark decisions.

The project "The Way Home".
Silhouettes
of people walking away always impressed me very deeply. "Never",
"Forever" - words full of child's fear flashed in my head,
when I saw a figure moving away. The person in the big cold world
bravely walks on friable snow...
I wanted "The Way Home" to be a story
about live and death. "In my father's house are many mansions."
Summer evening, maybe August, is not hot, all in yellow sunset light.
High grasses wave on a wind. I'm walking to my house and already
see it on the horizon. It is translucent against the back cloth
of the sky.
But the way home is very long, as long as life.
And it also can be a story about life.
About a small boy, who got carried away by something
and wandered somewhere. He hurries up home, and behind each bush
someone hides, he hears steps behind. And at home mother is waiting
for him with flagging supper.
About a mature man, who returns home, from where
he was away for many years. Over there, behind a hill the house
will be visible. His heart beats, and feet weaken...
About an old man standing in front of the fence
and looking afar. He knows that he'll die soon. He imagines his
way, he is anxious. He has to go alone, to go home.

project was presented in 2008 year in Nizhniy Novgorod State Art

The project "Boat".
In
2010 Galina Kakovkina represents the exhibition project "Boat"
after more than two years of intensive preliminary work.
In this project the artist considers semantic
components of such concepts as the Boat, Water, the Vessel. The boat
as an image performs an archetype and generates variety of associations
and hints. Therefore, the artist uses many of them for the fullest
disclosing of a boat theme as rescue means, as dwelling, as
a vessel and as a ritually-ceremonial symbol of transition in other
world.
The
project has been presented in Cosa in se gallery, Nizhniy Novgorod
in 2010.
